Elizabeth Eden
7th Grade English
My name is Elizabeth Eden. I have my BA in English from UC Santa Barbara (Go Gauchos!). I received my teaching credential in 1999 from CSU Long Beach. I have taught in various school districts within LA County with a couple of breaks in between to focus on being a parent. I have two children, one in 8th grade and another a sophomore in high school. I am a former army brat, so I have lived in various places across the United States.
I love teaching and cannot imagine doing anything else. I get great joy from seeing students have light bulb moments, find a book they really love, and improve in their writing. I stress with students that learning is a process, and there is always room for improvement (and that goes for adults as well). Part of why I love teaching literature is the dynamic discussions that arise from the stories and the great insights that students have about the characters.
When I am not teaching, I’m traveling with my family. We are nature lovers, so going places where we can explore the outdoors is a favorite. I am obviously an avid reader and I enjoy painting and drawing.
I am excited to be at New West. I love the small campus and the great camaraderie of the staff. The students here are eager to learn and friendly. I am looking forward to reading and learning with my seventh graders.
