Honors English 9
I'm from Rockville, Maryland, about 15 miles outside of Washington, D. C. I moved to Los Angeles in 1993 and soon began my professional writing and editing career. I started teaching English in higher education after earning my Master of Professional Writing at USC in 1997. I received a Master of Arts in Secondary Teacher Education in 2009, while I taught my first high school English class. I am a published author, poet, a produced playwright and screenwriter, and a work-for-hire scriptwriter. I've placed in a national TV pilot competition and just this summer won an award for a dark comedy play in the Hollywood Fringe Festival.
I have two kids in middle school, two dogs, four cats, and a spouse. (Why "spouse"? That's a whole other story!) My favorite genres are science fiction, fantasy, and horror. I'm a HUGEMONGUS Doctor Who fan. I love all things owl, too. My favorite holiday is Halloween (but not because of the candy), and my favorite season is Fall (I'm petitioning the dictionary people to have seasons capitalized).
