Joseph Cooper is a native of Southern California. His primary instrument is piano and his secondary is French horn, though he has played on nearly every instrument in numerous ensembles.
Mr. Cooper earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music at Oklahoma State University with a minor in Philosophy. He then went on to complete his Master's degree at Columbia College Chicago where he earned a Master of Fine Arts in Music Composition for the Screen. Mr. Cooper has spent the past decade working as a designer and choreographer for several marching bands, color guards, and winter guards in Oklahoma and Illinois. Mr. Cooper also works as a freelance composer for film and television, as well as for chamber ensembles, concert bands, marching bands, and jazz ensembles.
He was recently awarded the Adjudicators Award at the 2016 WorldStrides Heritage Festival in Anaheim this past April as most outstanding director. He also recently completed a tour with the Seattle Cascades Drum and Bugle Corps as a choreographer and colorguard technician.
