8th Grade History

“Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.” — William Jennings Bryan

My name is John Carlos Arias and I was born and raised in Orange County, California. I received my Bachelors of Arts in History from California State University, Fullerton and Social Science Credential from California State University, Long Beach.

I am in the process of completing my Masters in Educational Administration and receiving my administration credential (2018).

Over the last seven years, I have taught both 6th grade World History and 8th grade United States History. I am very passionate, motivated and dedicated both inside and outside of the classroom.

I enjoy explaining history through a unique lens of storytelling and investigating. Furthermore, by connecting the past, present and future, I show students in my classroom how history truly comes alive.

When I am not teaching, my hobbies include playing and watching all types of sports, traveling, cooking, and recently my wife and I have been blessed welcoming our young son to our family. If I had to only pick one sport as my favorite, it would have to be baseball and I am a loyal Los Angeles Dodgers fan!

I am very excited to start my second year teaching at New West Charter and I look forward to conveying my passion of history to all students.
