6th Grade English

I graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor’s degree in English with a focus in Creative Writing. During my undergraduate time, I worked with AmeriCorps and USC’s Joint Educational Project as a tutor at public schools around Los Angeles. At the end of my senior year of college, I took a course called “The Writer in the Community” where I taught poetry to 5th grade students. The experience opened my eyes to the untapped potential of many young writers who do not have the opportunity to write creatively, but have a valuable perspective to share. Shortly after graduation, I enrolled in USC’s teaching program and earned my Master’s degree and California teaching credential.

This is my sixth year teaching and my second year at New West Charter. I am proud to be a part of the New West family as the 6th grade English Language Arts teacher. I have taught nearly every grade in middle and high school, but 6th grade is by far my favorite to teach. I love to watch and help guide my students through the transformation from elementary student to middle school scholar.
