Middle School Athletics

New West Charter Middle School provides students with an opportunity for interscholastic athletic participation and competition. The middle school competes in the FIYA League (Foundation for Interscholastic Youth Athletes) with many other middle schools from all over Los Angeles. Most middle school sports offer two different teams, a 6th grade team and a 7th/8th grade team. The following middle school sports are offered:

Mission Statement

The mission of New West Charter School Athletics is to demonstrate high ethical standards and sportsmanship. The Athletic Program believes the highest potential of sports is achieved when participants are committed to pursuing victory with honor according to six core principles: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and good citizenship.

 


Goals

The overall goal of the New West Charter Athletic Program is to provide student-athletes with a strong family atmosphere that communicates the value of respect and responsibility for one’s self, teammates, opponents, the game, and for people of different backgrounds, communities and cultures. The Athletic Program strives to field teams that demonstrate the best possible examples of what it means to be a part of the New West Charter family.
